1. FM 1097 widening
The Texas Department of Transportation broke ground in July on an expansion project of FM 1097 between I-45 and Hwy. 75 in Willis. The project will expand the roadway from two to four lanes and add a continuous left-turn lane. Construction is expected to take 11 months to complete. 2. FM 1488 overpass
Work continues on a project to widen FM 1488 from two to four lanes from FM 149 to just past Community Road in Magnolia. The project includes construction of a railroad overpass over the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad tracks. The project has reached 44 percent completion, officials said. 3. Hwy. 105 improvement project
The city of Conroe will start construction on a Hwy. 105 improvement project in October. The project will add a raised median throughout the roadway from I-45 to Frazier Street. The median will limit left-hand turns to designated intersections for transit safety purposes. Construction of 5-foot-wide sidewalks on each side of the roadway is also included in the project. 4. I-45 HOV lanes
The I-45 high occupancy vehicle lane extension project will add one lane in each direction along I-45 from South Loop 336 in Conroe to FM 1960 in north Harris County. The project will be complete by October, according to TxDOT. The agency has completed about 98 percent of the project and is installing final striping and signage. 5. Westside connector addition
Crews have broken ground on a new roadway that will connect FM 1097 to Old Montgomery Road near I-45, Willis. TxDOT crews will also install a traffic signal at the new intersection. Once complete, the roadway will make it possible for TxDOT crews to convert the southbound feeder road at the FM 1097 and I-45 intersection into a one-way road.
