After cancelling five days of school because of flooding the week of April 18, Cy-Fair ISD and the Texas Education Agency have waived three of the missed days and scheduled two make-up days.

The two make-up days will be scheduled for June 2 and 3. June 2 will be the final day for students to attend school, and June 3 will serve as an in-service staff development day that students do not have to attend, officials said.

The district typically schedules two make-up days for inclement weather at the beginning of the year. June 2 is the final inclement weather day remaining on the calendar.

Seniors will not be affected by this change in the calendar, said Deborah Stewart, associate superintendent of human resources and student services, at the May 16 CFISD board meeting. Most seniors will have already met graduation requirements, and June 2 follows their final exam day, Stewart said.

“[Attendance on June 2] will not be calculated into whether or not they could exempt,” she said.

No changes were made to the final exam schedule.

Underclassmen in CFISD high schools will also be finished with their exams, but will still be required to attend school on June 2, said Teresa Hull, associate superintendent of governmental relations, communications and chief of staff.
