Community Manager Crystal Meldru said five new tenants moved into apartments April 2-3. “Our first building has 42 units that technically someone could move into within about 48 hours or so,” Meldru said. “Our next building will be coming online in May. Every month we have a new building that’s made available.” The new apartment complex on Hero Way will have six buildings and 225 luxury units that come with one or two bedrooms. Meldru said the addition could help fill a need in Leander for luxury apartments. Already 42 people have signed leases for apartments in the first building or in future buildings, she said. “We want to keep it local; we want to get people who work in Leander,” Meldru said. “You’ve got a lot of businesses out here in Leander and Cedar Park. We’re getting a lot of Leander ISD employees [interested], and city employees [and] people who work for utility providers.” Apartment units come with one or two bedrooms and kitchens with granite counters and stainless steel appliances, she said. The finished apartment complex will include amenities such as a pool, six outdoor barbecue grills, a dog park, an on-site fitness center and a 10-foot-wide sidewalk that will connect the apartments to the nearby Leander Station Park and Ride. The Standard is located within half a mile of Austin Community College’s future ACC San Gabriel Campus property. ACC has scheduled a ground breaking ceremony at 10 a.m. April 21. “We would love to get more teachers … in our community,” including staffers from the ACC campus, Meldru said. “ACC absolutely influenced [the location of] the apartment project and it will influence future projects down the road.” Another apartment complex on Hero Way, Skye Luxury Senior Living, is planned to open in spring 2016. The building will have 156 units intended for residents age 55 and older.
