According to unofficial total voting results, Hugh Coleman has won the Denton County commissioner, Precinct 1 seat with 51.66 percent of the votes, or 12,295 votes. Brett Larson followed closely behind with 48.34 percent of the votes.
Commissioners serve a four-year term.
All election results are unofficial until canvassed.
Coleman, the incumbent, has served as a Denton County commissioner since 2009. Coleman's background includes service as a prosecutor, a civil attorney for the county, an assistant district attorney and a district attorney. He currently serves with several local committees and organizations, including the Denton Chamber of Commerce, the Frisco Chamber of Commerce and Boy Scout Troop 65 in Denton.
Larson is an independent financial advisor and business owner who has lived in Frisco for 11 years with his wife and children. Larson has also been involved in the Frisco community as a program manager for the Frisco Young Entrepreneurs Academy, an executive member of the Frisco Chamber of Commerce and as an officer for the Frisco Sunrise Rotary Club, among others.
