Customers of Leander liquor store On the Rocks can soon choose to have their alcohol delivered to their homes in 2016.

Owner Amy Hayward is working with technology company Top Shelf to offer her customers the capability of ordering beer, wine and liquor through the Top Shelf iPhone app. By mid-2016, customers age 21 and older can order items through the app, which charges a $5 delivery fee and requires an order of $20 or more. Drivers are On the Rocks employees and verify the purchaser’s age by electronically scanning the customer’s ID.

The store’s new general manager, Brian Krueger, has been popular among customers because of his sense of humor and background in the distribution and merchandising industries, she said.

“His sense of humor is outrageous,” Hayward said. “He’s a really funny guy. He’s almost 7 feet tall, so he can reach anything on any shelf. … He really knows the industry and knows the products, [so] he’s really able to help customers. … They love him.”

In 2016, Hayward said she also hopes to offer pairing classes for wine and whiskey.
