At a Sept. 4 regular City Council meeting, the Planning Department was presented with the North Central Texas Council of Government 2015 Celebrating Leadership in Development Excellence Award. CLIDE is a regional program created in 2003 to recognize public and private entities, cities, developers, planners and engineers who achieve excellence based on the 12 principles of development excellence.
The award is shared with Rosewood Property Company, developer of Heritage Creekside. The 121-acre mixed-use urban neighborhood plan is the first to implement Plano’s new urban mixed-use zoning ordinance. The development received the CLIDE Award under the Public Planning and Policy category.
“To be selected, cities must receive a unanimous vote by a jury of nationally recognized experts,” said Edith Marvin, NCTCOG director of environment and development. “This is an excellent example of how planners, developers and the community can work together to create a market-sensitive mixed-use community.”
