Buda City Council awarded contracts Aug. 18 to four firms to perform various work on its $55 million bond projects approved by voters in November.
The $55 million in debt issuance will fund the construction of new city facilities such as a police station, public library and city hall; drainage fixes; recreational improvements and road projects.
“The council’s desire [is] to get these projects done quickly and efficiently and under budget I might add, too, if possible,” Mayor Todd Ruge said.
Buda City Council unanimously approved Klotz Associates as the engineer for the projects listed under Proposition 3, which included road improvements downtown. The contracts for engineering services total about $553,000.
Freese & Nichols was hired in a unanimous vote to perform engineering services related to the projects listed under Proposition 4, which was to address drainage and flood-control issues in the city. The contract totals $165,313.
The council approved in a unanimous vote the selection of Page Architects to design structures listed under Propositions 1 and 2, such as the city hall, municipal court, public library and public safety facility. The contract will cost about $1.79 million in total.
JE Dunn was hired in a unanimous vote to oversee the construction of those projects.
