Transportation update Roadway widening[/caption]

US 380

Construction is underway, and additional work is starting soon to widen US 380.

The first phase of construction will widen the highway from five to six lanes from Lovers Lane in Prosper to Custer Road. This project, which is about 30 percent complete, will also add a median and curb to the roadway.

The second phase of construction will widen US 380 from CR 26 to Lovers Lane to create a freeway section. Construction will include creating frontage roads and either overpasses or underpasses at the Dallas North Tollway and Preston Road intersections.

Timeline: October 2014-June 2016 (Lovers Lane to Custer Road portion), October 2015-TBD (CR 26 to Lovers Lane portion)

Cost: $19.6 million (Lovers Lane to Custer Road portion), $58 million (CR 26 to Lovers Lane portion)

FM 423 widening

Construction is ongoing to widen FM 423 in Frisco. The main 3.48-mile portion of the roadway in Frisco (highlighted on the map) stretches from Eldorado Parkway to US 380. The project includes paving, installing traffic signals and lighting. Another portion of the FM 423 project stretches from SH 121 to Stewarts Creek Road.

Timeline: October 2014-July 2018 (Frisco portion), October 2014-October 2017 (southern FM 423)

Cost: $29.8 million (Frisco portion), $57.9 million (southern FM 423)

Preston Road intersection improvements

Construction is expected to begin next year on Preston Road intersections between SH 121 and Main Street. New turn lanes will be added to the Warren Parkway, Lebanon Road, Wade Boulevard, Rolater Road and Main Street intersections. The design for the project is about 60 percent complete.

Timeline: June 2016-TBD

Cost: $4.5 million

Main Street widening

Construction is nearly complete on widening Main Street from Preston Road to Custer Road. The project will widen the two-lane roadway to six lanes and includes new traffic signals, roadway lighting and landscaping.

Traffic is expected to be open in August on Stonebrook Parkway from Fighting Eagles Lane to Longhorn Trail. The new roadway includes an underpass at the BNSF Railroad crossing.

October 2015

Teel Parkway will be extended from Stafford Middle School to Rockhill Parkway. The project includes adding a bridge over a floodplain.

June 2016

Construction is expected to begin in September to widen Custer Road from four to six lanes from SH 121 to Stonebridge Drive.

September 2015-TBD

Design is now complete on a project to construct a new six-lane roadway, CR 26, from Rockhill Parkway to US 380.
