Central Park to get lightning detection system by June 1

Bee Cave Due in part to a $10,000 donation by Bee Cave benefactor Adrian Overstreet, the city’s Central Park will receive a Thor Guard lightning detection system.

Overstreet, the managing partner for Hill Country Galleria’s Sonesta Hotel, which is under construction, made the donation at Bee Cave City Council’s April 28 meeting. The City Council unanimously approved installing a Thor Guard lightning detection system for Central Park visitors.

Overstreet’s donation will cover 80 percent of the system cost, Mayor Caroline Murphy said.

It will be installed by June 1, City Manager Travis Askey said.
