Three members of the Grapevine Fire Department were promoted in a formal ceremony Feb. 18.

Brent Irving was promoted from captain to battalion chief of emergency medical services.

The position of battalion chief of emergency medical services was created through the fiscal year 2015 budget; Irving is the first dedicated EMS chief in the history of the department.

The new position will allow for better oversight in the department; approximately 70 percent of the departments calls are EMS related.

In addition Arthur Davis and Jimmy Loftin, both firefighter/paramedics, were promoted to driver engineers.

Three new firefighters were also sworn-in to fill vacancies from retirements.

Cody Hendricks, James Longbrake and Ryan stadium were sworn-in at the same ceremony as firefighters/paramedics.
