Big decisions made in 2014



  • Budget, personnel additions: The board added 194 jobs, gave KISD employees a 5 percent pay increase and passed a new benefits and salary package in the summer. The positions were added for growth and to replace employees lost through state budget cuts in 2011.

  • Debt service rate reduction: The board also lowered the district's debt service rate by four cents following a 1 cent tax increase in 2013.

Klein ISD board meetings are held the second Monday of the month at the Klein ISD Central Office Board Room, 7200 Spring Cypress, Spring.

Top issues for 2015



  • Rezoning: The board will consider rezoning for French Elementary in February and hold zoning meetings in the fall for the elementary in Willow Lake Village, opening in 2016, and High School No. 5, set to open in 2017.

  • Bond referendum: In January, the board will be asked to consider calling for a bond referendum May 9. If approved by voters, the bond package will provide $498.1 million to address growth and other district needs.


Terms and compensation


Klein ISD board trustees are unpaid and serve in rotating three-year terms. Each member is elected to an at-large position in a nonpartisan election.
