A ground breaking ceremony was held Nov. 12 for Grapevine Craft Brewery in downtown Grapevine at its future location 906 Jean St.
Founder and owner Gary Humble said after almost two years of planning and facing many obstacles construction is moving full steam ahead.
"There has been a lot of reasons to quit and give up," he said. "But I would like to thank a group of men who stood by my side and who are also owners–Andre, Mike, Glenn and Tim.
And thank you to the city council and city officials who have been very supportive of me. They support small business and most importantly they support dreams."
Humble said the 11,000 square-foot brewery will include 1,500 square feet of retail space for a two-story taproom and an additional 2,800 square feet of outdoor space for a beer garden, with 48 seats outside and 24 seats inside.
Humble said he was able to add to the square footage when the property to the north, adjacent to the land that was already purchased for the brewery became available. The new land added 6,000 square feet and frontage on Dallas Road.
At the ceremony, a construction sign was installed in front of the property facing Dallas Road. The project is expected to be complete spring 2015.
The brewery currently distributes to over 1,200 locations in North Texas and the Austin metro. All production activities currently in Farmers Branch will cease and Grapevine Craft Brewery will host all of its operations in Grapevine.
"We plan on continuing a legacy of making great beer in Grapevine," Humble said. "I wouldn't have started the brewery with any other intention than for it to be in Grapevine."
