Melanie Bush defeated Kim LeJeune for the Conroe ISD board of trustees Position 1.
With all precincts reporting, Bush earned 55 percent of the vote, or 19,667 votes, and LeJeune earned 45 percent with 15,920 votes.
Bush led after early voting with 10,578 votes, or 53 percent. LeJeune received 9,355 votes in early voting, or 47 percent of the vote.
Position 1 is held by Mel Brown, whose term expires this year. Conroe ISD board positions carry two-year terms.
Bush, a local business owner with her husband, recently graduated from the Leadership Montgomery County program. Bush and her husband established Better Bookkeepers bookkeeping firm.
Bush's family has lived in Montgomery County since 2006.
Bush addressed her supporters.
"We're thrilled with the outcome with this, and I want to take the time to thank everyone who voted in the CISD race," Bush said. "I look forward to joining the team of eight and working side by the side with them, to continue the success of each student, teacher and campus. My only goal as CISD board member is to serve all students, educators and taxpayers to the best of my ability."
