Photo by Leslee BassmanVibra Healthcare plans to develop the empty Lake Travis Specialty Hospital into a physical rehabilitation hospital designed for patient stays averaging 10 to 20 days, said Mike Soisson, Vibra Healthcare senior vice president.
Lakeway's first acute medical rehabilitation hospital plans to open Oct. 1 at 2000 Medical Drive, Lakeway, CEO Deborah Hopps said during Lakeway City Council's July 21 meeting.
Vibra Rehabilitation Hospital of Lake Travis will occupy the vacated space located behind Lakeway's post office, formerly known as the Lake Travis Specialty Hospital, she said.
Medical personnel in the 36-bed facility will treat patients who have conditions involving a stroke, neurological injury, orthopedic injury, multi-trauma, pulmonary care and cardiac care.
Hopps said staff held a two-day job fair in April to fill some of the 150 to 200 positions needed by the facility.
Vibra Healthcare is based in Pennsylvania and has facilities in 18 states throughout the nation, she said.
