Nikola Tesla was an innovative scientist whose inventions are still integral in everyday life, especially during Texas summers.
The Tesla Project, an event celebrating Tesla's accomplishments, will take place July 5 at the Canopy business park in East Austin.
The one-day event will feature Tesla motor cars, a documentary screening, an art gallery filled with work inspired by Tesla, robots, live music and fun activities to engage children.
The Tesla coil will also be brought to the spotlight. Craig Newswanger will host a question-and-answer session about the coil and teach guests how to make their own.
Bands that will play included The Future of Air Travel, Octant, Jean Caffeine and BLUESQUEEZEBOX.
All proceeds from the event will go toward Girl Start, according to the event's website. Entry to the event is free.
