Robert Schneider announced July 1 that he is running for reelection to the Austin ISD board of trustees.

Schneider has represented Southwest Austin as the District 7 trustee since 2002.

He said that if elected to a fourth term, he would like to work on the district's immediate issues: hiring a permanent superintendent to replace Meria Carstarphen, finding solutions to the budget deficit and seeking property tax relief during the next Legislative session.

Schneider said he would also like to tackle long-term projects such as bringing more academic programs to south Austin.

According to a news statement, his interests include site-based decision making, promoting academic achievement, fiscal responsibility and studying models of board governance.
