Augusta Fretwell to replace Franciska Bayliss on April 21
Abercorn International School named Augusta Fretwell as its new headmistress on Jan. 23. Fretwell, who has been the head of lower school at Atlanta International School for the past six years, will take over the position from current headmistress Franciska Bayliss on April 21.
Bayliss was hired as acting headmistress in August to assist the Abercorn International School board of directors in the search for a permanent head of school.
Fretwell holds a bachelor's degree from Leeds University in the United Kingdom and will soon complete her master's degree in multidisciplinary studies for international educators at the State University of New York.
She began her teaching career in Spain and has held teaching positions in England, the United States, Malaysia, the Middle East and the British Virgin Islands.
Fretwell said she is looking forward to joining the school and getting to know the families and Lakeway community.
Abercorn, located at 601 S. RR 620 in Lakeway, has two sister schools—Abercorn School, London and The British International School of New York.
