The City of Colleyville's CodeRED database will begin its verification process on Feb. 3, 5 and 7 that will eliminate phone numbers no longer valid in the system.

"CodeRED is one of our most important tools to alert citizens of an emergency," said Mona Gandy, spokesperson for the city. "Verifying numbers and purging the system of any invalid numbers will speed up the notifications and let us alert citizens faster. And, in an emergency when seconds count, that matters."

The system will call every number in the CodeRED database on Feb. 3, and any unanswered numbers remaining will be called again on Feb. 5 and finished on Feb. 7. If there is no answer or the number is not in service, it will be deleted from the city's system.

The number will come through as 800-791-3749, with a message that reads: "This is a test of your community's CodeRED Emergency Notification System. No action is required. This is only a test. Had this been an actual emergency, you would have received important information from your local officials. Again, this is only a test."

A number will be confirmed when the call is answered by person or answering machine.
