Travis County The Khabele School is working to refinance its debts.

For the refinancing to be tax-exempt, the school needs approval from the city of Italy, Texas—where the debt is being issued—as well as Travis County, where the campuses are located.

On Dec. 3, Travis County Commissioners Court held a public hearing before Judge Samuel Biscoe considered the request.

The Italy Higher Education Facilities Corp. plans to issue a special project revenue bond capped at $2.75 million. The county has no financial responsibility in the matter.

The Khabele School is located at 801 Rio Grande St. and has campuses on Brodie Lane and Manchaca Road.
