Seven Georgetown firefighters were awarded the Green Cross at the April 23 City Council meeting for their efforts during an automobile collision on Hwy. 195. Four Williamson County EMS medics and an off-duty Fort Hood firefighter were also presented letters of appreciation.

The award is given to firefighters involved in a vehicle extrication or rescue.

In the incident, which occurred March 21, two injured drivers were extracted from their vehicles, according to a news release. Both individuals have since been released from the hospital and are recovering, according to the release.
