The City of Leander plans to dedicate two fire department buildings March 30, including the administration office in honor of former City Manager Anthony "Biff" Johnson.
At 11 a.m., members of City Council and staff plan to gather at Fire Station No. 2, 1950 Crystal Falls Parkway, to place a dedication plaque on the facility to recognize the officials involved in the funding and construction of the building.
At noon, the group is scheduled to gather at the Leander Fire Administration Building, 101 E. Sonny Drive. The facility, which was completed in 2009, will be named after Johnson, who served as city manager from 2004 until 2011. He died unexpectedly of cardiac arrest March 24, 2011, at age 49.
Leander Mayor Chris Fielder said March 21 the event is important to the city, especially because only one other city building—Pat Bryson Municipal Hall—has been officially named. A small reception is scheduled to follow the final dedication.
The public is invited to attend both events.
