Eclectic gastropub brews its own beers
Whip In has whipped up some of its own strong beers.
Since July, Whip In has been brewing and serving its own beers along with its Texas-style South Asian comfort food. Most of the beers are strong, dark and have local ingredients, with the flagship being an Indian pale ale made with local honey, grapefruit peel and lemongrass.
Whip In has focused on brewing strong, dark beers because the brewing system is small, Manager Dipak Topiwala said. The beer is only available for consumption inside the restaurant.
"We are barely able to keep up with demand," Topiwala said.
Topiwala said he hopes Whip In will be able to eventually expand its brewing system.
Whip In still carries almost 700 types of beer at a given time. In addition to its beer offerings, Whip In has a wine bar, live music, everyday convenience store items, and a lunch and dinner menu.
