The City of Georgetown and Georgetown Economic Development Corp. awarded DiFusion Technologies a $92,000 grant for new research and expanded facilities Sept. 20.
The grant came with an agreement that DiFusion would add 10 jobs within three years, and its parent company, Technology Life-science Collaboration Center, would purchase a plasma spectrometer, which measures particle energy and electrical charge.
"At the TLCC, we aim to attract promising life sciences companies to Georgetown while supporting them as they grow, add jobs and bring their products to market," TLCC Executive Director Russ Peterman said in a news release. "With this financial support from the City of Georgetown and GEDCO, the TLCC is able to continue to support DiFusion, which has unlimited potential because of its innovative technology, strategic collaborations, and the tenacity and determination of the company's leaders and staff."
DiFusion announced another $9.3 million in financing earlier in September. The company produces medical devices to minimize surgical site infections in orthopedic and spinal surgeries.
