The three candidates for Austin mayor will square off April 16 in a debate on The University of Texas campus that will be co-sponsored by Community Impact Newspaper and KXAN News.
Incumbent Lee Leffingwell will face challengers Brigid Shea and Clay Dafoe at the event, which is free and open to the public. The debate will be held at the Bass Lecture Hall of the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs from 12:15—1 p.m. It will air live on KXAN and be streamed live on KXAN.com. The telecast will begin at noon. The Austin American-Statesman and the LBJ School of Public Affairs are also co-sponsoring the event. KXAN anchor Robert Hadlock will moderate. The panelists will be:
  • Andrea Leptinsky, general manager for Central Austin's edition of Community Impact Newspaper
  • Former state Rep. Sherri Greenberg, director of the LBJ School's Center for Politics and Governance
  • Austin American-Statesman columnist Alberta Brooks
