The Trails at 620 development, located across from Concordia University Texas, is under construction.

Whataburger will open Jan. 31 and Schlotzsky's and Mattress Firm are expected to open early spring.

Angel Donuts & Treats, a locally owned bakery, has also signed a lease with The Trails at 620.

Flores Mexican Restaurant, located at 7900 N. RR 620, will be relocating its restaurant, where it has been in business for six years, to open at The Trails at 620 at the end of February.

"As a family, we decided to build and buy a freestanding restaurant," co-owner Jose Flores said.

The new 7,000-square-foot restaurant will seat more than 200 people and include a bar, playscape and patio.

Flores said he thinks the new restaurant will accommodate parents and children well and is a culmination of recommendations from his customers.

First State Bank Central Texas is funding Galaxy Theatre, an upscale cinema and dinner theater, which will include surround sound and four-story screens. The theater is under construction by Harvey Cleary and is expected to open Nov. 1.

Freddy's Frozen Custard is expected to open in October.

A yet-to-be-named 5,500-square-foot bar and grill, with a 3,000-square-foot patio, is slated to open Nov. 1 across from Flores Mexican Restaurant. The owners—Steiner Ranch resident David Pikoff; David Quintanilla, owner of Serranos; and Steiner residents and entrepreneurs Wade and Sharlyn Threadgill—bought the property in December.

"I am opening a family sports grill with chef-prepared food at modest prices with a lot of healthy options in a super-cool atmosphere," Pikoff said.
