The Spring ISD community is invited to attend the district’s ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Roberson Middle School at 11 a.m. on Aug. 10. The school is located at 12340 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston.
The event will feature student entertainment as well as remarks from Spring ISD Superintendent Rodney Watson, board President Rhonda Newhouse and Fallbrook Church Senior Pastor Michael Pender.
Roberson Middle School is a middle school of choice with a program that emphasizes math, science and the fine arts, according to SISD. The school’s former building, located on Southridge Road, is undergoing renovations and is planned as the future site of the Westfield Ninth-Grade Center, set to open for the 2020-21 school year.
The new middle school features a 400-seat auditorium, a dining area and learning areas for the school’s specialized programs, including agriculture, engineering, criminal justice and performing arts.
“The newly designed Roberson campus is an incredible space, one that we believe will inspire our students to new heights of learning,” Watson said in an Aug. 5 SISD district news release. “It is thanks to the amazing support of our Spring ISD community and the passage of our 2016 bond that we are finally able to offer this unique, specialized program a home of its own.”
