The community is invited to attend a groundbreaking ceremony for Cypress Assistance Ministries’ new facility at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 25, in the lot adjacent to 12920 Cypress N. Houston Road, Cypress.

Attendees can park across the street at 12925 Cypress N. Houston Road, Cypress, and a shuttle will be available for transportation to the ceremony site.

As CAM continues to grow, the new facility will allow the faith-based nonprofit organization to better serve the community, officials said. Robert Scherer of SCS Construction Management will be overseeing the project.

When completed, the 27,000-square-foot space will house client assistance offices, a food pantry, GED and ESL classes, Operation Jobs services, Angels’ Attic Resale Store, a donation center and administrative offices—allowing all the organization’s services to be at one location for the first time in 15 years.

One service being added to the new space is a pallet garden, which officials said would provide fresh foods for the on-site food pantry and provide an opportunity for families with children to volunteer. The new facility will also allow for an expansion of the GED program, which often has a waitlist due to a lack of space.
