Mizani wins Republican primary for Texas House District 98

With the final three Tarrant County precincts reporting, Armin Mizani has won the Republican primary race for Texas House District 98.

Mizani received 13,886 votes, 53.16%, compared to Fred Tate's 11,319 votes, 43.33%, and Zdenka "Zee" Wilcox's 916 votes, 3.51%. Mizani will face the winner of the Democratic primary, Cate Brennan, in the November general election.

Armin Mizani is still in the lead in the Republican primary race for Texas House District 98 with 13,642 votes, or 53.45%. Fred Tate has received 10,985 votes, or 43.04%, and Zdenka "Zee" Wilcox has received 895 votes, or 3.31%. Tarrant County has completed voting counts for 196 of 199 polling locations.

Armin Mizani has maintained the lead in the Republican primary race for Texas House District 98 through the evening with 10,517 votes, or 54.27%. Fred Tate has received 8,246 votes, or 42.49%, and Zdenka "Zee" Wilcox has received 642 votes, or 3.31%. Tarrant County has completed voting counts for 20 of 199 polling locations.

The winner of the Republican primary will face the winner of the Democratic primary, Cate Brennan or Aaron Hendley, in the November general election.

Updated at 9:59 p.m.: Armin Mizani continues to lead in the Republican primary race for Texas House District 98 with 10,035 votes, or 54.27%. Fred Tate has received 7,853 votes, or 42.47%, and Zdenka "Zee" Wilcox has received 603 votes, or 3.26%. A total of 18,491 votes have been counted.

Early voting results from Tarrant County show that Armin Mizani is leading in the Republican primary race for Texas House District 98.

What you need to know

Mizani is ahead with 9,746 votes, or 54.76%. The two other candidates in the race, Fred Tate and Zdenka "Zee" Wilcox, garnered 7,477 and 576 votes, respectively, or 42.01% and 3.24%.

Tate is a managing director and has experience in a governor-appointed board service, per previous reporting. Mizani is the current mayor of Keller and a former city council member. Wilcox is a small business owner and former public school teacher.

The Democratic primary race is between Cate Brennan and Aaron Hendley.

What’s next?

The winner of the Republican primary will face the winner of the Democratic primary in November. The winner of that election will be sworn in for a two-year term starting in January 2027.
