Tomball ISD trustees voted unanimously April 10 to move forward with multiple projects funded by the district's $275 million bond referendum approved by voters in November.

Board members also approved at Tuesday's meeting to pursue finalizing contractual negotiations with PBK Architects for the construction of a new elementary and junior high school as well as the necessary site development.

PBK Architects also received the top rank by board members to design the district's new stadium. Board members ranked the three firms competing to provide architectural services for the new stadium, voting to enter into negotiations with the highest-ranked firm. In addition to PBK Architects, Stantec and Huckabee also proposed plans for the new stadium during a special meeting April 6.

According to district information, construction of the district football stadium is expected to cost $51.28 million, and the new elementary and junior high school will cost $31 million and $68.3 million, respectively. More than $22 million of the bond funds is set aside for site development, such as detention areas and utilities.

The elementary and junior high schools will be located on the south side of the district in unincorporated Harris County to relieve the growing student population at Wildwood Elementary and Willow Wood Junior High schools, respectively. Construction of these facilities is managed by Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam, Inc., a Houston-based consulting firm selected by the board in January.
