The Woodlands Triathlon, a USA Triathlon-sanctioned event, will have about 800 participants, according to a news release.
The triathlon consists of:
- A 500-meter open swim
- A 12.8-mile bike ride
- A 5K run
Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office will close and reopen lanes on streets along the route throughout the day.
Areas affected include portions of:
- Northshore Park
- Lake Woodlands Drive
- Gosling Road
- Research Forest Drive
- Woodlands Parkway
- Cochran’s Crossing Drive
- Grogans Mill Road
What to expect
Closed roads will be reopened after the last participant passes and course materials have been removed, according to the release. Drivers are cautioned to expect more traffic congestion than usual and to use caution while traveling through course areas.
Police will be stationed at intersections along the course route and cars will be allowed through if there is a safe opportunity for passage, according to the news release.
