A $7.42 million bid for the long-awaited Robinson Road realignment project was officially awarded at the Oct. 9 Oak Ridge North City Council meeting.

Two-minute impact

After a year of delays due to bad weather and utility relocations, City Council approved the contract bid for construction to align Robinson Road across Hanna Road. The contract approved provides for several provisions along the road including:
  • Concrete paving
  • Widened roadway
  • Realignment of roadway across Hanna Road
Ballast Point Construction will handle the construction of Robinson Road, and Quiddity will oversee project management and contract negotiations.

Quote of note

“We are so excited for this project, and it’s been a long hard road, and now we are going to focus on our Plaza District,” Mayor Paul Bond said.

The Plaza District will be a commercial zone located north and south of Robinson Road.

What’s next

Public Works Director James Corn said groundbreaking on the project could begin by the end of 2023. Utility relocation by Entergy is still in progress and expected to finish by the end of the month, he said.
