A total of eight candidates had filed to run for four seats on The Woodlands Township board of directors in the Nov. 8 election as of Aug. 22, the last day to file.

The deadline to file a declaration of write-in candidacy is Aug. 26, according to the township.

The four seats available are positions 1, 2, 3 and 4. Each position is for a two-year term, according to information from the township.

The seats are held by Gordy Bunch, Jason J. Nelson, John Anthony Brown and Bruce Rieser, respectively. The positions are nonpartisan.

According to information posted on The Woodlands Township website, as of 6:30 p.m. Aug. 22 the following candidates had filed:

  • Brad Bailey and Craig Rickard filed as candidates for Position No. 1. Tom Chumbley filed but withdrew, according to the township website.

  • Linda Nelson and incumbent Jason J. Nelson filed for Position No. 2.

  • Incumbent John Anthony Brown and Richard Franks filed for Position No. 3. A filing for Ritha Lubin was listed as having a rejected application.

  • Kyle Watson and Steve Lawrence filed for Position No. 4.
