Sugar Land City Council has approved spending $996,000 on the design of a new public safety dispatch and emergency operations building, according to an Oct. 18 news release.

The public safety dispatch and emergency operations is part of $90.76 million in bond propositions voters approved in 2019, according to the news release.

According to prior reporting, the bond propositions included:

  • $47.6 million in drainage projects
  • $26.3 million in public safety/facility projects
  • $10.26 million in street projects
  • $6.6 million for the animal shelter project

What else?

The new building—set to cost $11.5 million as part of the public safety/facility bond projects—will sit on 9.9 acres of land and be around 17,000 square feet, according to the release.
