According to the announcement, while KISD had originally planned to host all five of its graduation ceremonies in one day at NRG Stadium, due to additional facility cleaning and sanitation requirements, the district will no longer be able to do so. Instead, graduation ceremonies for each of the district's five high schools will be held over the course of two days in accordance with the following schedule:
- Klein High School: July 28 at 2:30 p.m.
- Klein Forest High School: July 28 at 6:30 p.m.
- Klein Cain High School: Aug. 1 at 10:30 a.m.
- Klein Oak High School: Aug. 1 at 2:30 p.m.
- Klein Collins High School: Aug. 1 at 6:30 p.m.
As a backup plan, in the event NRG Stadium is unable to accommodate the aforementioned schedule, the district will host outdoor graduation ceremonies at Klein Memorial Stadium on July 28 and Aug. 1.
"Graduates, we are so sorry that COVID-19 continues to present challenges for these very important milestones in your life, but we remain dedicated to celebrating you as the class of 2020 in the best way that we can," Superintendent Jenny McGown said in a video statement. "We're so proud of you and we hope to see you all soon."
In addition to changes to the graduation schedule, KISD has also shifted from hosting in-person graduation ceremonies to drive-and-go proms at each of the district's five high schools. According to the statement, during the drive-thru event, students can dress up in prom attire and take photos on the red carpet.
While details on times are forthcoming, the proms will be held in accordance with the following schedule:
- Klein Cain High School: July 17
- Klein Forest High School: July 18
- Klein Oak High School: July 23
- Klein Collins High School: July 24
- Klein High School: July 25
