At its regular meeting Monday night, the Klein ISD board of trustees recognized an employee who worked at the district for 30 years, and it approved construction documents for renovations at Hildebrandt Intermediate School.
- The board recognized Larry Whitehead, who is retiring after working at the district for 30 years in a variety of positions including teacher, principal and deputy superintendent.
- The board approved documents detailing the renovation work that is set to take place at Hildebrandt Intermediate School. This work includes remodeling a kitchen, the addition of a gymnasium and repairs on the facade of the school needed after sustaining water damage during Hurricane Harvey. In addition to the work at the intermediate school, this measure also includes an expansion of the freezer and cooler in the food service department at the Klein Multipurpose Center. The total cost for these renovations and additions is $6.04 million, which will be funded by the district’s $498.1 million bond package approved by voters in 2015.
- The board awarded a contract for new audio systems in various elementary schools throughout the district. The $642,000 contract was awarded to Tag Communications and will be funded through the district’s 2015 bond funds. The elementary schools that will receive this new classroom audio system are Brill, Erhardt, Kaiser, Krahn, Nitsch and Roth elementary schools.
The board’s next regular meeting is scheduled for April 10.
