New project


 1. John Lizer Road/Liberty Drive repaving project

Construction began in October on the repavement of John Lizer Road and Liberty Drive as part of the city of Pearland’s five-year pavement rehabilitation plan. Angel Brothers Enterprises Ltd. was awarded the bid for the project at the Aug. 22 City Council meeting. The project will close one lane on each road for about four weeks. The project is ahead of schedule and is expected to finish before the allotted 120-day contract period, city officials said.

2. Sam Houston Tollway


Construction began in March to widen the Sam Houston Tollway from two to four lanes in each direction between Hwy. 288 and Hwy. 45. The project will also include construction of an inside safety shoulder and the reconstruction of tolled exit and entrance ramps.


Estimated timeline: March 2016-spring 2019


3. Hwy. 288


Construction began in early November on the Hwy. 288 toll lanes project in Harris County, according to officials from the contracting firm Blueridge Transportation Group. BTG will develop the toll lanes from Hwy. 59 to Clear Creek, and Brazoria County officials will install toll lanes from Clear Creek to CR 58. As part of the project, BTG will build freeway interchanges from Hwy. 288 to Beltway 8. The project will include eight direct connector/ramp bridges.
