What are your priorities, if elected?

Advocate for the resources our schools need to thrive. We must guarantee that our educators have the resources they need, our students are engaged and our parents' voices are valued. I am committed to making thoughtful, student-centered decisions that put the needs of our children first.

What changes, if any, would you like to see with the district’s budget?

With our phenomenal business office manager, we've been fiscally responsible, ensuring we operate within our means. If the state provides additional funding, we could prioritize increasing teacher pay, which would enhance retention, boost morale and ultimately improve the educational experience for all students, which collectively is the board's priority.

What programming, if any, would you like to see changed, adjusted and/or added?

I would like to see more access to dual language programs, allowing students to become bilingual and culturally enriched. Additionally, expanding special needs programs with tailored support services would ensure that all students, regardless of ability, receive the attention and resources they need to thrive academically.

What do you think the state should do to support education?

Advocating for students, I'd ask for funding for better school lunches. On behalf of teachers, lower health care costs, professional growth opportunities. Curriculum flexibility, reform [State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness] testing. Empower teachers to implement lessons that go beyond test prep and emphasize college and careers. Increased funds to match safety mandates.

What are your priorities, if elected?

Ensuring every student receives a top-notch education, supporting educators and strengthening parent engagement to build a stronger community. I will be a visible, engaged trustee, present at school events, campus visits and meetings with parents, teachers and students.

What changes, if any, would you like to see with the district’s budget?

The budget should prioritize teacher retention, classroom resources and student programs. I support exploring creative ways to increase educator compensation, including higher stipends for additional duties. Also, every expenditure must be measured and aligned with the district’s goals to ensure fiscal responsibility.

What programming, if any, would you like to see changed, adjusted, and/or added?

Pearland ISD offers 26 of 60-plus career and technical education pathways. I want to explore adding pathways that align with workforce needs and set students up for success. Additionally, I support investing in early intervention programs to provide students and families with the support they need as early as possible.

What do you think the state should do to support education?

The state must increase public school funding through the basic allotment and reduce unfunded mandates that strain PISD. Decisions made at the state level should not hinder successful districts like PISD due to challenges faced by others.
