What will be your top priority if elected?



Restoring our sheriff's office to be a place of real law enforcement. Without making that a top priority, the continued failed performance will undermine all other priorities. What is the biggest safety issue facing Brazoria County residents?



There is a much wider conversation to have around this question. … But first nothing is possible without the staff to do the work. Creating an atmosphere that assists in retaining personnel must be addressed. We can not continue to lose hundreds of employees who have institutional knowledge.



How would you work with local school districts to improve safety?



... I would like to work personally with the school leaders to ensure they receive a swift tactical response to work alongside the school district to protect the lives of our children. This includes using [Brazoria County Sheriff's Office] assets in early detection of possible threats.



How does your experience prepare you for this role?



In brief I have spent my life’s work to be prepared for this role. I have worked for two sheriffs and have spent over twenty years in a command staff role. I’m currently a Chief of Police. I hold a deep understanding and appreciation of our community, law enforcement professionals…

What will be your top priority if elected?



The top priority since I took office has been to build the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office into a premier law enforcement agency, right here in Brazoria County. The citizens of Brazoria County deserve a sheriff’s office that is willing and able to appropriately respond to incidents that impact their safety.



What is the biggest safety issue facing Brazoria County residents?



Though there are issues that face our county, one of the most significant threats is the population growth expected in our county. Exponential growth is expected. With that growth additional crimes are anticipated. We are working to meet that need through training and strategically planning for the days to come.



How would you work with local school districts to improve safety?



We've hosted safety meetings with all school districts and law enforcement. Additionally, we are boosting specialized training for school incidents. Alongside our law enforcement partners, we are ensuring law enforcement, county-wide, is trained. Together, we are preparing to improve safety and respond effectively.



How does your experience prepare you for this role?



With 20 years in law enforcement and a master’s degree in criminal justice leadership, I've served as Brazoria County Sheriff for three years. I am proud of our achievements, but we are just getting started. I'm fully committed to continue serving the citizens of Brazoria County as your sheriff.
