Students and parents in Pearland ISD will have the chance to swap clothes and update wardrobes throughout the upcoming school year.

PISD officials in a July 28 news release announced the PISD PTA will host a swap shop where parents may donate or exchange gently used clothes for their children once a month at the brown building behind Pearland Junior High West and across from the PACE Center at 2314 Old Alvin Road, Pearland.

According to the release, the swap shop will be open during the 2022-23 school year from 5-7 p.m. on the following dates: Sept. 13, Oct. 11, Nov. 8, Dec. 13, Jan. 10, Feb. 14, March 14, April 11 and May 9. The shop will also be open Aug. 9 from 4-7 p.m.

Clothing that can be exchanged or donated cannot have ink, marker or pencil marks; missing buttons; tears; or other flaws. All items must be washed and neatly folded, according to the release. The shop also accepts donations of lunch kits, backpacks, new socks, new underwear, and new or gently worn shoes. All clothing must fit the PISD dress code.

The shop also has a voucher program that allows qualifying families to receive donated items without exchanging. Vouchers must be approved by a school nurse, counselor or principal, according to the release.
