Friendswood ISD is in the process of drafting and adopting their 2022-23 academic calendar. The FISD board of trustees met on Nov. 8 to discuss the potential changes to the upcoming calendar.
The main differences between the 2021-22 calendar and the 2022-23 calendar is adding a non-instructional day for PSAT and parent teacher conferences as well as splitting winter break over three weeks due to Christmas falling on a Sunday, according to agenda documents. Winter break will still only amount to two weeks.
For the current 2021-22 calendar, winter break is set to take place from Monday, Dec. 20, to Monday, Jan. 3. For the 2022-23 calendar, it will instead start as an early dismissal day on Wednesday, Dec. 21, and continue until Wednesday, Jan. 4, per the proposed calendar.
Additionally, FISD is expected to start school on Aug. 16 and end on May 25 as an early dismissal day in the 2022-23 calendar. The board will receive and review public feedback on the proposed calendar, and will vote on adopting it at the Dec. 13 meeting. Community members can provide feedback on the proposed calendar starting Nov. 9 through the district's social media.
