Manvel police chief Keith Traylor retires after 13 years

Manvel Public Safety Director and Police Chief Keith Traylor will retire from the Manvel Police Department after 13 years of service, according to a Sept. 15 release from the city. 

What residents need to know

Traylor joined the Manvel Police Department in 2013. During his tenure, the department grew from fewer than 10 employees to more than 50 in 2026.

He also expanded community outreach through programs including the Citizen Police Academy and Teen Citizen Police Academy, as well as the creation of a community relations officer position, the release states. 

Traylor also played a key role in the design and construction of the city's new criminal justice facility, which opened in August 2025 and has since been named in his honor.

Assistant Chief Rick Alvarado will serve as Interim Director of Public Safety and Chief of Police, according to the release.

"Chief Traylor has dedicated years of his life to serving the people of Manvel, and we are grateful for the commitment and leadership he has provided throughout his career," Mayor Dan Davis said.
