Friendswood ISD approves committee members for 2026-27 school year

Friendswood ISD trustees approved members of two district advisory committees for the 2026-27 school year at its Sept. 14 meeting.

The School Safety and Security Advisory Committee has over 30 members, including Superintendent Thad Roher, trustees Laura Seifert and Tony Hopkins, as well as representatives from the Friendswood Police Department, district documents show. 

The committee’s responsibilities include helping oversee the district’s emergency operations plan, conducting safety and security audits, collaborating with local emergency agencies, reviewing mental health interventions, and considering proposals and funding for major safety projects, documents show. 

The Student Health Advisory Committee, which assists the district in ensuring that local values are reflected in health education instruction, consists of 18 members, including parents and staff from all six district campuses.

Trustees also approved the Concussion Oversight Team, which will be responsible for establishing the return-to-play protocol for students who sustain a concussion while participating in interscholastic athletics, documents show.
