Alvin ISD on Aug. 25 implemented a temporary face covering requirement for all staff members that work with children in elementary or junior high schools while indoors.

“We consider the health and well-being of students and staff in all we do in Alvin ISD,” the district said in an email to parents on Aug. 24. “As students 11 years of age and under are not yet eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine, Alvin ISD is temporarily requiring all staff members who work with children in elementary or junior high school to wear a mask or face shield while indoors.”

The requirements will last through Sept. 30 and will be re-evaluated at that time, according to the district's website.

AISD reported 11 active COVID-19 cases from Aug. 14 to Aug. 20, according to the district’s online dashboard.
