Council discussed whether the area would be too busy for a school teaching new drivers, as it is in close proximity to other businesses and McNair Junior High School.
“Just right above this you have a karate school, donut shop, coffee shop, drive-thru drive cleaner, all the stuff that’s right there and I have currently no issues with traffic in that area,” Council Member Adrian Hernandez said. “I’m literally at that intersection every single day and I have no issues with it.”
The sole dissenter was Council Member Alex Kamkar, who called for an amendment to have the school owners present a preplanned traffic pattern for the driving lessons.
“I don’t want to be overly onerous, but I think it would help for neighbors and traffic to at least have it clearly defined where the new folks are going,” Kamkar said.
The amendment failed with council members expressing concerns with how to enforce a traffic pattern for the prospective driving school.
