The winner will be considered for publication in the city’s calendar, officials said.
The gist
Students from the surrounding school districts were divided into four age group categories from K-12 and asked to artistically represent the theme, “Growing Together: Trees and Communities.”
Voters can cast a total of 12 votes, or three votes per grade category, to select 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners for each category, according to the contest rules.
Voting will take place from Oct. 14-18, at Pearland City Hall Annex, 3523 Liberty Drive, Pearland.
Voters are encouraged to consider the following criteria:
- Use of theme
- Originality and creativity
- Neatness
- Effectiveness
This year’s contest received over 700 entries, Martin Griggs, deputy director of Community Development said.
Winning entries will have the chance to be featured in the city’s next annual calendar, Griggs said.

Arbor Day is a secular holiday in which individuals and groups are encouraged to plant trees, according to the Arbor Day Foundation.
