The Sugar Land Skeeters released their 2016 game and promotion schedules with some changes from the past year including, new giveaways and a monthly concert series. The 140-game regular season—70 home games and 70 away games—opens April 21 with the Skeeters hosting the Bridgeport Bluefish at Constellation Field at 7:05 p.m., followed by a fireworks display. Fireworks will be featured twice a month throughout the season and on the Fourth of July, Assistant General Manager J.T. Onyett said. “We just focus on our family-friendly environment,” he said. One new addition to this year’s promotion schedule is a monthly postgame concert series beginning May 7. To date, The Emotions are booked for July 9 and Spazmatics are booked for an “’80s Night” on Aug. 6. “[The concerts are] just another reason to come out and have fun,” Onyett said. Aside from the usual prize giveaways, including bobble heads and hats, the team will give away specialty jerseys and hold silent auctions during games on June 26 and Sept. 16. A replica of the team bullpen cart will also be up for grabs on July 23. Dollar Dog and Margarita Monday nights return April 25, June 20, Aug. 15 and Sept. 12, while Two-Steppin’ Tuesdays occur once a month.
