With all votes tallied, Andrew Mitcham and Sheri Sheppard will be re-elected to Jersey Village City Council, according to unofficial results. Because none of the three candidates for Position 5 laid claim to a majority of the votes for that seat, there will be a runoff held to determine the winner of the council position. Gary Wubbenhorst received 436 votes, while incumbent Tom Eustace received 324 votes and Bryan Engledow received 263 votes. Wubbenhorst and Eustace will advance to a runoff election. A date is yet to be determined.

Position 1

Winning the Position 1 seat, Mitcham garnered  62.34 percent of the vote, defeating opponent Jill Klein. Mitcham earned 634 votes over Klein's 383 votes. Mitcham, the incumbent for Position 1, has served on Jersey Village City Council for one year. He has been a resident of Jersey Village since he was 8 years old and said he hopes to use his new term to prepare for post-Hwy. 290 construction development. "My No. 1 priority in office will be to help the citizens who are flood victims and to come up with a long lasting solution for flooding in the city of Jersey Village," Mitcham said.

Position 4

For Position 4, Sheppard took 56.61 percent of the vote over Mike Mauriello. Sheppard garnered 574 votes over Mauriello's 440 votes. Sheppard, the incumbent, has served on Jersey Village City Council since 2012. She works for Deloitte Consulting’s strategy and operations practice as an oil and gas specialist leader and said she believes addressing the flooding issues will be important for the City Council going forward. "We need to work as a team to assess the situation and find solutions," Sheppard said.

Position 5

Wubbenhorst garnered 42.62 percent of the vote for Position 5, Eustace took 31.67 percent and Engledow took 25.71 percent. Wubbenhorst earned 436 votes to Eustace's 324 and Engledow's 263. The incumbent for Position 5, Eustace, has served on City Council for two years. He has also served as the commissioner of the city’s Planning and Zoning Committee and on the board of directors of the Jersey Village Civic Organization. He said he believes one of the most important issues for the city is the implementation of the comprehensive plan. "Having been involved in a runoff in my original election, I know that my work will be tough going forward," Eustace said of his impending runoff. Wubbenshorst moved to Jersey Village in 1992 and has been active in the community for 18 years as a volunteer firefighter and emergency medical technician intermediate. He said he ran for City Council because of his commitment to Jersey Village and his personal commitment to community service. Wubbenhorst could not be reached for comment on election night.   All City Council members in Jersey Village serve two-year terms and are limited to four terms total. Council members Mitcham, Sheppard and the winner of Position 5 will be up for election again in May 2018. All results are unofficial until canvassed.
