With all precincts reporting, Rand Henderson has won the Montgomery County sheriff Republican primary over opponent Jim Napolitano, according to unofficial results.

Henderson garnered 56.7 percent of the vote, or 44,181 votes total, compared to 33,691 votes, or 43.3 percent of the votes, for Napolitano. All results are unofficial until canvassed.

Henderson has no Democratic opponent in the upcoming November general election. He could not be reached for comment on election night.

With early voting results tallied in March 1 primary elections, Montgomery County sheriff candidate Rand Henderson has taken a lead over opponent Jim Napolitano.

Henderson garnered 55 percent of the early vote, or 20,641 votes total, compared to 16,854 votes, or 45 percent of the votes, for opponent Napolitano. All results are unofficial until canvassed.

After 22 years of working his way up the ranks of the Montgomery County sheriff's office, Henderson serves as commander of the department’s patrol division for districts 1-5. Henderson has worked as a patrol deputy in The Woodlands, overseen the department’s jail division and its field training academy, and managed internal affairs investigations. He served as incident commander during hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Ike, and as law enforcement branch commander and public information officer during the Magnolia area wildfires in 2011.

Napolitano serves as chief of police for the Montgomery Police Department and has about 38 years of law enforcement experience. During that time, Napolitano worked as security manager for Marathon Oil, served 22 years as a special agent with the United States Secret Service, held the reserve deputy rank with the Montgomery County sheriff's office and operated his own private security business.

The winner of the race will not have a Democratic opponent in the general election in November.
