According to unofficial results, incumbent Kristi Baker has won the race for Magnolia ISD board trustee Position 4, defeating challenger Ginger Russell with 71.60 percent to Russell's 28.40 percent with all 71 precincts reporting.
Baker was elected to a three-year term with 2,574 votes to Russell's 1,021 votes.
"I am thrilled to be elected to keep my seat on the Magnolia ISD School Board," Baker said. "I am looking forward to continuing the important work I have been doing on behalf of all of the children and residents in our district.
There were 3,595 voters who turned out to vote in the school board election, which is the largest turnout ever for a MISD school board race, Baker said. Before the May 10 election, the largest voter turnout was approximately 900 voters, she said.
"It is so encouraging to me that 3,595 voters made their voices heard in this election," she said. "This dedication to taking action on behalf of our children and our community is why Magnolia is such a great place to live. I am honored that 2,574 of those dedicated citizens voted for me to continue working for our Magnolia families."
Joe Duncan ran unopposed to fill Position 5, which was previously held by Charlie RIley who is running for Montgomery County Precinct 2 Commissioner. Duncan has been elected to serve a full three-year term on the board.

Incumbent Kristi Baker has the edge in the race for Magnolia ISD Board Position 4 after early returns with 71 percent of the vote and 2,371 votes counted.
Baker holds a lead over her opponent Ginger Russell, who has 29 percent of the vote.
Baker, the incumbent on the board, was appointed to Position 4 and is a small business owner in Magnolia. Russell has lived in the Magnolia area for 20 years and is a small business owner who is running for elected office for the first time.
Joe Duncan ran unopposed to fill Position 5, which was previously held by Charlie RIley who is running for Montgomery County Precinct 2 Commissioner. Duncan has been elected to serve a full term on the board.
Magnolia ISD board members serve three-year terms with no term limits and without compensation.
