Roman Forest City Council votes to accept council member's resignation

Roman Forest City Council members voted to accept council member Jerry Reasner’s resignation at the council’s April 27 meeting.

Reasner, who was elected to the Place 3 council member position in 2024, would have been up for reelection in November.

Mayor Chris Parr thanked Reasner for his service to the city during the meeting.

“Any event that was ever going on, he was always there, always supportive, and he always had great ideas,” Parr said at the meeting. “I appreciate the fact that Reasner served on our council and continues to serve this city.”

Later during the meeting, Reaser was appointed to serve as grand marshal for the city’s upcoming Fourth of July parade.

Some context

During the council’s March 18 workshop, Reasner said he had been forced to miss several council meetings following the death of a family member. He noted he’d likely miss more if he didn’t opt to step down.

“I love this, and I've had a lot of fun," Reasner said at the workshop. "Unfortunately, I've had to submit my resignation because it's the right thing to do."

What’s next

Because council member Mitchell Davis was not present during the April 27 meeting, Parr said he would wait to consider nominating a replacement for Reasner until the full council could meet to discuss potential options.
